Asteya

non stealing

While we may be familiar with the traditional views of stealing from others, there are internal observances that may be worth taking a look at.

Astyea is one of the five "Yamas" from the eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga. Yamas are a set of personal guidelines - or moral conduct - that encourages us to live a truly honorable existence. For a brief background on these principles, visit this article in Yoga Journal. For an in-depth study of the eight limbs and links to valuable reference books, visit yogamovement.com

Are you stealing from yourself? One way to look at the principle of Asteya is to reflect on your currently set goals. Take a brief moment to scan your daily thoughts & actions and check in with the alignment of these activities with your well laid out plans. For example, do you let yourself get sidetracked easily? Simply remember that time spent elsewhere may be stealing from where you need to be. Ensure a non stealing attitude by being mindful of where your energy is directed. Be it health, thoughts, time or daily activities, contribute to your bigger picture with focused intent of action. Guarantee success with well thought out plans and commited efforts towards them. And most importantly, enjoy the process!

In abundance of love & devotion to our well being,
Corinne
